Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB)

IGB

The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, IGB, is a legally  independent non-academic research institute, which belongs to the Leibniz Association. The IGB is the principal German research center for freshwater ecology and inland fish and fisheries research. IGB offers excellent laboratory and field facilities for interdisciplinary research covering a wide range of disciplines, from hydraulics to socioeconomics, from molecular biology to catchment modelling, and from microbial ecology to fish behaviour. It has close ties to all three German universities in Berlin. Work by IGB combines basic and applied research as a basis for sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems and inland fisheries, including aquaculture and recreational fisheries.
